Lyon traveled to the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig on Wednesday night to face RasenBallsport on the second matchday of the UEFA Champions League in Group G.  MATCH SUMMARY

In poor form for several weeks, Lyon approached this meeting in Germany with and obligation to end a series of seven games in a row without victory inall competitions. Did they need an electric shock? In any case, the starting lineup of Sylvinho, a 5-3-2 with Marçal in for Denayer and Terrier in place of Dembélé, the club's top scorer since the season began, was surprising. It was the same for the very first action of the meeting and a chance for Werner (6 '), which failed to surprise the visitors. A big run pressure pushed them to react quickly, made by Aouar, author of a very good bit of pressing on Upamecano which allowed Memphis to open the scoring (11 ', 0-1). On its first, and only, incursion into the opponents' half in the first half, OL took the lead and kept this advantage until the break, thanks to the clumsiness of Werner (23 ') but also thanks to its seriousness on the defensive side (33 ').

Both teams were slow to return to the game in the second half. Leipzig had possession but without being dangerous, except on an attempt by Werner saved by Lopes (51 '), and the Olympians patiently waited their turn. And it arrived just after the hour of play. Taking advantage of an error by Mukiele, Terrier, quick as a fox, was able to put his team ahead by two goals by registering his very first goal in Europe (65 ', 0-2). The goal brought with it relief, which allowed Lyon to have a comfortable lead, which they preserved until the final whistle. After a long series without a win, historic in the twenty-first century, OL returned with timely success: second in its group in the Champions League after the victory of Zenit against Benfica (3-1), Lyon can turn more calmly to the crucial derby that awaits on Sunday, in the league, at Geoffroy-Guichard.

. EXPERT ANALYSIS / BRYAN BERGOUGNOUX.

We are reassured because we saw a very nice Lyon team who went at the opponent and who caused it a lot of trouble. Martin Terrier had a very good offensive and also defensive match, with winning returns. He was very valuable in this game. He is one of the great protagonists of this meeting. We were very solid, especially in midfield. OL deprived the Germans of the ball. We have allowed chances but I find the result of the match logical. In the game, we were superior. Sylvinho's plan was perfect ..
