Even if FC Nantes have not beaten OL on their pitch for 23 years, the two matches of last season have hardly gone the way Lyon. With only one point from six, the Canaries were a real thorn in the foot of Les Gones.

At the start of this 8th matchday, OL were second in the championship while Nantes languished in19th place. In this final sprint, OL no longer had a choice. Five points from second-placed LOSC, each game must result in a victory to make up the deficit. From the off, FC Nantes (15th) is fighting for its place in the division. This quest for survival will result in Coulibaly's opening the score (11th). Martin Terrier was able to equalize, (41), but Limbombe delivered an unstoppable free-kick to give a definite advantage to his side (83). OL would then be eight points behind LOSC and never able to catch up.
