A great first in the history of women's football was the appearance of this new trophy, the Trophée des Championnes. This match will pit the champion of the D1 Arkema of the previous season against the winner of the Women's Coupe de France from the previous season. However, the Lyon made quite the haul of trophies last year with a triple of the league, Coupe de France and Champions League. The rules indicate that if the champion of D1 Arkema is also winner of the Coupe de France, the place attributed to the champion of the D1 Arkema is then attributed to the club having finished the previous season in the second place of the D1 Arkema, in this case Paris Saint-Germain.

We thus found the two best French teams of the moment facing each other in the first big match of the season. And the least we can say is that this clash has kept all its promises with a start of an extremely fiery match between two teams who know each other well. In a close encounter, the breakthrough came from Amel Majri who managed to beat Paris with a real gem in the 26th minute. Well-positioned in the match, the players of Jean-Luc Vasseur took the ascendancy against their opponent, who were having trouble developing their game. Yet, shortly before half-time, following an error in recovery by the Lyon defense Nadia Nadim equalized into and empty goal and allowed PSG to return to the locker room with the score level (1-1).

In a thrilling shootout, the Lyon won this first championship trophy thanks to Sarah Bouhaddi's two strong saves, including the last, on the final Parisian attempt. In a rough and committed match, Wendie Renard's teammates showed their character so as not to let this first historic trophy slip away. It was victory that launched perfectly the season and allowed Lyon to add a new title to their national ranking after the 13 league titles and 8 Coupes de France.

Wendie Renard :

"We were expecting a complicated match. We are at the beginning of the season, the two teams increase their pressure. I think we saw a good match. Each team had a chance. The matches will be different throughout the year with different competitions. But this match is a good omen for the future. This gives concrete form to our work at the beginning of the season, but we will have to continue working. "

Amel Majri :

"The goal was satisfying but we know that we can do a lot better. This shootout win sends a strong message. There was commitment on the part of PSG; but throughout the match they did not have many clear opportunities. We are able capable of playing better. I can play in a more offensive position, I have the confidence of the coach, but I have to continue working. "

Jean-Luc Vasseur :

"The players surprise me from match to match. It's an extraordinary group. Everything was not perfect but you know that finals are not played, they are won. We scored in a good passage of play then they equalized on an error which created a tight match, full of tension. This match will be full of lessons for us. There are things to work on. The content was not necessarily good but the victory is the most important thing. "
