Several of Lyon’s players took part in international matches this Sunday, September 8th.

Joachim Andersen’s Denmark drew in Georgia in the Euro 2020 qualifiers. The Lyon an stayed on the bench in a poor match, which ended 0-0. The Scandinavians are second in group D, two points behind Ireland.

Ciprian Tatarusanu, a starter in goal, won 1-0 against Malta with Romania. The goalkeeper did not have much to do against this opposition in Euro 2020 qualifying. Romania is currently third in group F, one point behind Sweden and eight points off leaders Spain.

The France U20 team drew (2-2) in Slovenia during a friendly match. After falling behind in the third minute, the side quickly reacted with the Mohamed Simakan’s equalizer. Theo Ndicka Matam allowed the French to take the lead before half-time, but the Slovenians scored the fourth goal of the game late on to earn a draw. 

With three victories, the France U-18 team won the Limoges Tournament, defeating Russia (5-0). This was an auspicious result ahead of the U-17 World Cup, which will begin on October 26, 2019 in Brazil. Melih Altikulac started for the French side.
