Even with a strong performance on the pitch of the Arena Nacionala, Ciprian Tatarusanu could not avoid defeat for Romania against Spain (2-1) in their Euro 2020 qualifying group. Romania is fourth in Group F, while Spain extended its position at the top of the table.

This season, Ciprian Tatarusanu has not yet had the chance to show his talents in an official match for Lyon. Yet he has lost nothing of his qualities. Playing against Spain with Romania, the goalkeeper, on 62 caps, made no less than eight saves. Alcacer (6th), Ramos (11th), and Alba (13th) all were frustrated the goalkeeper, who finally conceded from a penalty by Ramos in the 29th minute (1-0).

Spain doubled their lead through Paco Alcacer, who took advantage of a pass from Jordi Alba (49th, 2-0). Romania had some hope after a header from Andone (59th, 2-1) but failed to level the score, despite Llorente being sent off (79th) and a big chance for Puscas at the end of the match (92nd). Dane Joachim Andersen did not have the same luck as his teammate as he didn’t feature against Gibraltar (0-6).
