. THE MATCH.
OL Féminin played their first match of 2019/20 Thursday night in the United States, where Wendie Renard's last-gap goal sent them to the Women's International Champions Cup final thanks to a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid. A year after losing the final in the inaugural WICC, Lyon were looking for a shot at redemption. However, the stifling North Carolina heat and a formidable opponent made it a grueling 90 minute affair for Jean-Luc Vasseur's squad - despite Hegerberg, Majri and Le Sommer all having clear-cut chances to open the score in the first half.
Things evened out in the second half, with Ludmila putting Bouhaddi to work and Corral dinging the crossbar late in the game. When it looked like the proceedings would be decided from the penalty spot, our captain came up huge in stoppage time, beating Gallardo in the air to a corner kick and heading home the game's winning goal. Now a second shot at WICC glory awaits on Sunday against either Manchester City or the North Carolina Courage - precisely the team that beat us last year.
