Sylvinho : « des ajustements à faire mais nous sommes prêts »
Lyon's coach held a press conference to preview Friday's Ligue 1 Conforama 2019/20 season opener at Monaco

Ligue 1 Conforama season is open us...

"I think the beginning of the season is always a good time. The team will improve after three or four matches. Being ready is one thing, drawing conclusions is another. You can't go too fast. We have a technical team. There are adjustments to be made with the new signings. I think we're ready. The captain will be announced on Friday. But there will be many people who can form this leadership."

"In preparation, there is a physical, technical and tactical part. We continue the physical work and accentuate the tactical work. But not all are at the same stage because some players have just started training. A friendly match is not like a league game."

System of play

"It's important to perform well but we must also score points. I'm going to pick a team based on the conditions of the moment. I am in love with the tactical system. But I am even more in love with football. I need to adapt to the opponent and to the players I have available. We can play in a 4-3-3, 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 formation. What is certain is that we will always have backline of four."

"I've been working in Monaco for a long time. This is a team that wants to qualify for the Champions League. There is a strong base there that... knows what to do. They're very dangerous."

His coaching debut

"We have the desire to work. There are a lot of adjustments to make again. We are very excited and hopeful. Being dynamic is my way of being. I try to convey this to my players. It's necessary to keep the players' attention. Video is very important to me. We live under pressure. But Juninho takes some of it off of me."

Transfer market

"We can still think about making changes. For the number 6, Thiago (Mendes), Lucas (Tousart) and Jean Lucas are there, and in the future Maxence (Caqueret) as well. I'm especially thinking of the first two. There is a phase of improvement in the defensive sector. Mendy left while Marçal and Rafael were injured during the preseason. You have to adapt. We have a lot of solutions to solve the problems."
