Youssouf Koné : « Venir à l’OL était ma priorité »
Lyon's latest signing was introduced to the media on Thursday. The former Lille player, who's just back from the Africa Cup of Nations with the Mali national team, inked a deal that will keep him at OL through 2024.

"I'm very happy to be part of the Gones family. It's nice to be with two great legends: Juninho and Sylvinho. Thanks to them I will be turning a corner. I had Juni on the phone and that was decisive for my arrival. I will defend the colors of OL and I want to go all the way in the competitions by winning titles. It's true that I had a lot of proposals, but I analyzed things and when I heard OL's offer I put everything aside because the project is interesting to me. OL is one of the biggest clubs in Europe."

"Youssouf has signed a five-year contract, linked to the operation for Thiago Mendes. It's a deal worth nine million euros, plus 25% on the added value of a potential transfer. The negotiations were complicated because he was a Lille player, but we believe in him and that's why we accepted the added value for resale. Youssouf is our eighth signing. We are in line with what we had agreed on with Juni."

"After Ferland Mendy's departure I had talks with Florian Maurice, and Youssouf is the name we came up with. Youssouf has enormous physical qualities: he's fast, he's aggressive and he is a player who still has a lot of room for improvement."
