Amine Gouiri: "Now's the time to break out"
Amine, between the U-20 World Cup and personal holidays, how was your summer?
"I had a little over three weeks of vacation. I started a little preparation to be ready for the preseason. I felt good at the U-20 World Cup, I got some playing time because I was coming out of a long absence following my knee injury. We deserved to go further in the competition. I had good stats on a personal level, but that's not the most important thing. There's a lot of regret about the match against the United States."
Are you 100% recovered?
"I've done very well in recent weeks and during the World Cup. We managed my playing time with the coach. I think I'm 100%. I feel very good. I'm going to have a good preseason to be at my best next season. The long absence from the pitch allowed me to grow mentally... I'm ready to take on a new adventure."
What are your ambitions for the new season?
"I want to earn a spot in the first team... Between the ages of 18 and 20 is an important time to break out. I'm right in the middle. I'm eager to see how this season will unfold. I hope everything will be fine. The transfer market isn't finished and other attackers can arrive. I'm only focused on my preparation."
How has the training camp in Tignes been for you so far?
"Everything is going well. We are in working in the best conditions. It's a tough time but you have to go through it, it's essential. Nobody likes running in a vacuum but everyone knows how important it is. We all have the same goal: to have a big season together. There are many young players for this training camp due to the absence of some internationals. Group life is going well."
