Groupama Stadium pitch gets makeover for Women's World Cup

A few weeks ago, the stadium pitch was removed to allow concert stage setups for the likes of Ed Sheeran and Phil Collins. A week after the last concert, a new pitch began was installed - three weeks before the planet's best national teams compete in the World Cup semifinals and final.
For this pitch, Olympique Lyonnais chose the latest in hybrid turf technology: "Playmaster" by Tarkett Sport.
This technology makes it possible, on the one hand, to install a new pitch very quickly (just three days) while also having immediate playability.
Freshly arrived from Italy, some 8,300 m² of playing surface was delivered this week.
Made up of 3% synthetic strands, the pitch was grown in Milan in April. To cover the playing surface, 700 rolls of grass were sent to Groupama Stadium.
After careful maintenance by the Parks and Sports company, the pitch will offer a high-end playing surface meeting the requirements of FIFA and ensuring one of France's most beautiful fields ahead of the 2019/20 Ligue 1 Conforama season.
