Simon scores as Germany beat Chile ahead of World Cup

The defender started and sealed the 2-0 win, while OL teammate Dzsenifer Marozsán played 71 minutes in Germany's final tune-up ahead of the tournament.

Carolin Simon scored and Dzenifer Marozsan started as Germany beat Chile 2-0 Thursday in their final tune-up ahead of the FIFA Women's World Cup. OL defender Simon played the full 90 minutes and sealed the win for the home side in Regensberg, adding to Alexandra Popp's 29th-minute opener with a cross/shot that sailed over the keeper and went off the post before hitting the back of the net just before halftime. Marozsan was subbed off in the 71st minute. Germany make their World Cup debut on Saturday, June 8 against China.
