Sylvinho : « Un grand projet qui m’inspire dans un grand club »
Lyon's newly-appointed head coach was officially introduced to the local media Tuesday afternoon at Groupama Stadium.

His first words

"I'm very happy to be here. It's a big project at a big club, with people who I trust like Juninho and now the president, Florian Maurice and Vincent Ponsot. I'm not as serious as I seem (smile). I had different proposals. For many years I was assistant coach for the Brazilian national team. I wanted to have a career in Europe. OL has an excellent project that inspires me. And working alongside Juninho, everything will be easier."

His staff

"Fernando Lazaro will be one of my deputies. I know him well. He has a lot of talent and he knows how to calm me down. The staff will also be composed of Claudio Caçapa, Gérald Baticle and Grégory Coupet. I didn't need to come with anybody else. And I didn't come here to destroy the work that was already set in place, but rather to build from it. That's why I didn't need anyone other than Fernando Lazaro."

His football philosophy

"I like the 4-3-3 [system], having possession of the ball, playing in the opposing half of the pitch. We will not play football without inspiration and without soul... We will work every aspect but one thing is sure: there won't be a lack of inspiration or soul. Our best player was born on August 3, 1950... the club itself. That is my work methodology. I know French football very well. I've followed many Brazilian players. It's a very athletic, but also technical, competition. My job will be to continue and improve everything that has been done before me... "

His ambitions

"The club didn't outline any specific goals. They opened the door to the house and gave me the keys. Football is all about results, I know this. I can't control results, but I can control the work we do. And I can assure you that we will work a lot."
