A few hours after falling out of third place, a result of ASSE's win atMonaco, OL had all the pressure on Sunday night as they hosted second-place Lille. Any result other than a victory would end their hopes of catching their opponent in the standings, while a loss would seriously put their Champions League hopes in danger. Lyon understood what was at stake and played accordingly, jumping to an early lead thanks to Terrier's 11th-minute goal. There were additional chances, for both sides, but the score remained unchanged throughout the duration of the first half as the hosts headed into the break with the slimmest of leads.
It would prove insufficient, since LOSC leveled the score just four minutes into the second period after a defensive mistake from the hosts. Another miscue, this time off a free kick, allowed Soumare to give Lille the lead in the 69th minute. But Lyon reacted quickly, leveling the score once again just five minutes later on Dubois' equalizer. A win wasn't in the cards, but Les Gones nonetheless reclaimed third place with just three games remaining in the season.
1. Léo Dubois scored his first goal in Ligue 1 Conforama with OL. His 74th-minute equalizer gave Lyon a key point in the fight for Champions League positioning and confirmed his status as an unquestioned starter of late in head coach Bruno Genesio's system.
