Budapest bound! OL see off Chelsea to reach UWCL final
AS IT HAPPENED
17': OL take the lead after Hegerberg sets up Le Sommer for the game's opening goal. 0-1.
34': Chelsea level the score on a fantastic Ji so-Yun free kick. 1-1.
45 + 1': Hegerberg's first-time volley goes just wide.
47': Bronze's long-range effort is stopped by Berger.
65': Bouhaddi makes the save on a powerful shot from Bright.
81': Alone at the far post, Spence fires wide and lets OL get away with one.
90 + 2': Hegerberg has a chance to put the game away in stoppage time, but shoots over the bar.
Fresh off winning their 13th straight D1 Féminine title, OL made it four Women's Champions League final appearances in a row Sunday with a 1-1 (3-2 aggregate) draw at Chelsea in their semifinal second leg that booked their ticket for a May 18 showdown with Barcelona in Budapest, Hungary. While far from an easy task for Reynald Pedros' squad at Kingsmeadow, they got the job done in a highly physical affair between two top sides. However, it was the visitors who would draw first blood when Le Sommer found space inside the box and slotted it home in the 17th minute. Chelsea would soon equalize on the half-hour mark thanks to a perfect free kick from Ji So-Yun.
Lyon returned from the break with much better intentions and another system of play for the last 45 minutes. They played deeper in opposition territory, while creating more chances. Chelsea, meanwhile, looked to take advantage of each counterattacking opportunity, which led to a much more open game in the second half. But the three-time defending champions were more than up to Chelsea's tough challenge and will look to win an unprecedented fourth straight (sixth overall) European crown in three weeks' time.
