Bruno Genesio : « C’est sur le terrain que se règlent les problèmes »
Lyon's coach faced the media on the eve of Friday's Ligue 1 Conforama showdown with Angers.

Injury report

"[Fernando] Marçal is not operational... There is a little uncertainty about Lucas Tousart (ankle) and Bertrand Traoré, who is a little sick. Ferland Mendy has resumed training and will be available next Friday."

Preparing for Angers

"I saw a week of very studious, very serious training. I felt a lot of desire, drive and quality [from the players]. That's the most important thing. The goal was to restore confidence to the group. Dialogue is important in these situations. This has been emphasized. The idea is to take responsibility for our mistakes and find solutions to prove that we can do better. There was a nice reaction during training this week."

The fight for the podium

"If we win our [final] six matches, nobody can catch us. We need to find enthusiasm, that is essential. When you score goals, you have to appreciate their value, celebrate them... Our motivation is qualifying for the Champions League, regardless of whether it's Marseille, Nice, Reims or Saint-Etienne [chasing us]".

Poor results of late

"Some players were disappointed not to play against Barcelona, but this wasn't a trigger. It didn't affect our behavior. We must vent all these feelings. The week of the Coupe de France semifinal against Rennes was traumatic. The elimination had a huge impact on the players, and we didn't know how to react against Dijon. The balance of a group is fragile."

Thoughts on Angers

"It's a hard team to beat, they earn a lot of draws. They've changed the way they play. They've kept their discipline, their commitment, but they also play good football. They're in good shape, a six-game unbeaten streak. They also have character. It will be a difficult match but it's up to us to show that we have found our virtues. It's on the pitch where problems are solved, not in statements to the media. We need to find a positive dynamic."

His upcoming departure at the end of the season

"Some players came to talk to me, but that wasn't the purpose of my announcement. It was to put the team in the best conditions to achieve the goals of the club. It doesn't change my situation. I'm a coach in pursuit of goals. I'm focused on that. The season isn't over and we'll talk about it again when it's over... I'm not relieved because it wasn't the decision I wanted to make. I didn't see myself continuing in this context despite my desire."

Memphis, Fekir, Marcelo… substitutes against Nantes

"There are no power moves. These are moves I make based on what I see, what I feel. They are always made in the interest of the team. There is no sidelining... These are just specific choices in relation to a match. It's very easy to target one or two players. I fight against this, the disempowerment. We are all responsible when we lose. It's always the consequence of a collective problem. I'm here to lead the players. I am not in semi-retirement. They will give everything for the club... Nabil will start tomorrow because he's our captain, the one who has to put us back on track. When he's fine, the team is fine. He's already proven this."
