OL IFC: New Ho Chi MInh City Federation Academy opens its doors
For over three years, OL has been supporting the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation to train the next generation of professional footballers in the country. More than a sporting objective, this locally supported project aims to give young people a solid educational y social foundation to promote the employability of players from the academy.
This initiative has been spearheaded by Julien Negri, assigned as the club's Technical Director to manage the entire project while collaborating with local management.
April 14, 2019 was a key date for the evolution of the partnership, as the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation officially inaugurated its brand new private training complex, in the presence of members of the City Government, the French Consul, Vincent Floreani and OL representatives.
A historic day for Vietnamese football, with the center becoming the first elite complex in South Vietnam. It will offer the 65 players of the academy and its staff conditions worthy of European standards, and will occasionally host the professional teams of the city, as well as the national team.
It's the culmination of a long and prosperous relationship between the cities of Lyon, France and Ho Chi Minh City that goes back several years now. It also confirms that Vietnam is now a stronghold of football in Southeast Asia, which Olympique Lyonnais is happy to support through this partnership.
