THE MATCH
Back from the last international break of the season, OL made the most of their visit to Roazhon Park Friday night with a 1-0 win over Rennes thanks to second half substitute Martin Terrier's 86th minute goal. Three massive points that put Les Gones within one of second-place Lille, who visit Nantes on Sunday. Playing with a 4-4-2 diamond formation, Lyon had chances galore in the first half but failed to put any of them away. The best of the bunch was a Nabil Fekir free kick (13') deflected off the post.
The second half saw a much more dangerous Rennes side, despite the visitors threatening to take the lead with Marcelo's header (51') that was cleared by Gélin in front of the goal line. Anthony Lopes was much more active as well in OL's goal, but managed to fend off Sarr and his fellow attackers. A scoreless draw was looking more and more likely until four minutes from time. With fellow sub Bertrand Traoré starting the play, Terrier tucked it past Koubek (86', 0-1) after a nice service from Leo Dubois. Three points... no better way to kick off the final stretch of the season.
. THE STAT .
Bruno Genesio became the the fifth most capped coach in OL history Friday night. The Lyon boss coached his 175th match in all competitions against Rennes, putting him just ahead of the Oscar Heisserer - precisely the first head coach in club history.
