A week after qualifying for the Women's Coupe de France final, Lyon made another statement in their return to D1 Féminine action with a 7-1 blowout win over Bordeaux on Saturday.

The perfect dress rehearsal ahead of Wednesday's Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Wolfsburg, while also keeping second-place at arm's in the league standings thanks to a five-point advantage over their closest rival.

And it wasn't just quantity but also quality of goals for Lyon, starting with van de Sanden's opener after a fantastic run from Henry (17', 0-1). Marozsan (21', 0-2) and Hegerberg (27 ', 0-3) soon followed with goals of their own before Asseyi (31 ', 1-3) pulled one back for the hosts. After the break, however, Reynald Pedros' took complete control of the match once again, with Le Sommer restoring the three-goal lead in no time (48 ', 1-4) and Buchanan getting her name on the scoreboard (62', 1-5) before van de Sanden and Hegerberg made it a brace each (72', 1-6 and 84', 1-7) with extreme ruthlessness.

An offensive exhibition that couldn't have come at a better time for Olympique Lyonnais

Reynald Pedros: "It was necessary to play a serious match. The players delivered some beautiful football despite a difficult pitch. Amel (Majri) felt a little bit pain in her thigh and we preferred not to take any chances. It's a perfect afternoon with a very good result. But tomorrow we shift our attention to Wolfsburg. We have some idea of how we will play against them. It's important, before these kinds of matches, to be able to have the whole squad at your disposal."

Wendie Renard: "We prepared well this week. Last week's [Coupe de France] match against Grenoble wasn't too good, so we had to catch up. I was able to get my rhythm back today. Now we can worry about the match against Wolfsburg. We can't wait for Wednesday to come."
