Houssem Aouar : « On va jouer nos chances à fond »
Lyon's young midfielder talks his current form, taking the next steps in his career and the upcoming Champions League Round of 16 return leg at the Camp Nou against Barcelona.

2019 so far...

"I'm starting to feel better and better. I got into a physical rut... for playing so many matches during first half of the season. So there was a little less physicality and flamboyance to my gam. I think I'm getting better . And I'm getting ready to be prepared for the big challenges that await."

Dealing with pressure

"I'm obviously aware of the expectations around me. When I have a bad or average performance, I'm criticized very quickly. I feel this pressure in a positive way, because it means that I have done good things up till now."

The return leg vs. Barça

"It's going to be a very big game. The first leg was the biggest match I've ever played in as a professional. I don't think we gave the performance we wanted to in the first leg. We must not forget that we're facing a very big team. We are very ambitious. We know that we can qualify. We will make the most of our chances."

His first professional goal, against AZ Alkmaar

"I'll never forget that day. I was happy to have been able to get a few minutes in the first leg. And, I was especially proud to have scored my first professional goal in the return match. Today it's far in the past for me because I've been able to play a lot of matches since then. Even if it's only been two years."

His Kopa Trophy nomination

"I was very proud of it. I was able to represent the Lyon Academy. This is something worth emphasizing. I was proud to be able to participate in the ceremony with my mother. I was able to meet great players. It's a dream for a young player."

The end of the season

"I'm focused on my end of the season at Olympique Lyonnais. I hope to get back to my normal level. I still have a lot to improve. In particular, I have to be able to adapt to unfamiliar positions, such as playing on the left or as a holding midfielder. I am trying to adapt to positions that will help me improve as my career progresses."
