Lyon's coach spoke to the media on the eve of Tuesday's Champions League Round of 16 first leg against Barcelona at Groupama Stadium.

Latest squad news

"We have doubts concerning Jason Denayer and Tanguy Ndombele. I can change my team but I have my starting XI in mind. Only possible injury absences could make me change my formation."

Nabil Fekir's suspension

"Obviously his absence hurts us. Nabil is our captain, we would have preferred to have him with us, but we have players able to overcome his absence."

Mindset ahead of facing Barça

"I'm calm, serene. The danger would be to play the game beforehand in our heads. We have to be ready tomorrow at 9:00 pm, not before. But yes, we are very excited to play this game because that's why we do this job. There's excitement, not impatience. We'll need to preserve all our chances for the return leg...  we have to keep our cool during the highs and lows of the match."

Media attention

"The closer we get to the match, the more I sense that people are considering us favorites. But we must remain humble. We have certainly faced big opponents, but we will have to remain vigilant. We know our qualities... But we have to be strong because Barça will also raise their level compared to their last game."

Comparing Barça with Man City

"Both teams have the same philosophy of play, focused on ball possession and putting the game in motion, using spaces. But in addition to having a big squad, Barça have outstanding players in their ranks. We'll need to find a balance against this Barcelona team and be disciplined while playing our game."

Lionel Messi

"Individual marking in front of him is obsolete because he will easily find a solution. Putting density in front of him can be the solution, and we will do something in that sense to limit his influence on the game. But even with that, he is able to decide the fate of a match by himself. When he's not playing well, he still creates chances and scores... you can imagine how good he is when he's at his best (laughs)."

Samuel Umtiti's return

"I had a strong rapport with him, sometimes a little more than at training, when we didn't agree about something (laughs). We're proud to see a player like him, who came out of the Academy, be a member of a team like Barcelona."
