Bourges – OL (CDF) : les Lyonnais ont évité le piège (0-2)
Martin Terrier and Ferland Mendy scored as Lyon defeated the National 3 side 2-0 to advance to the Round of 32 in their first match of the year.

Terrier gets a good look and fires just wide of the near post.

Dembele can't take advantage of a defensive gift and shoots off target.
Lopes and the crossbar prevent Bourges from taking the lead.
Dubois is denied from close range by Mokando in goal.
Dembele breaks free on the right side and sends his effort wide with only the keeper to beat.
Terrier cooly finishes to the far post and puts OL ahead. 0-1.

Mendy slams it home after Dembele's shot hits off the crossbar. 0-2.

As is customary, OL's calendar year began in the Coupe de France Round of 64 - this time with a visit to National 3 side Bourges Foot on Saturday night. Despite the absence of Nabil Fekir, Memphis (suspended), and Maxwel Cornet, among several key players, Lyon were clearly the better of the two sides from the opening whistle on, even with Maxence Caqueret and Oumar Solet respectively making just their first and second professional starts. Even so, the visitors failed to reflect their dominance on the scoreboard - specifically Moussa Dembele, whose finishing in the final third left much to be desired. It must be said, however, that Bourges created the best chance of the first half: a smashing header shortly before the break that would've gone in if not for the crossbar.

Not much changed in the second half, including Dembele's wasteful ways in front of goal. Finally, his partner up front, Martin Terrier, broke the ice in the 59th minute with a cool, low finish to the far corner. OL would needed some brilliant defending from Marçal and Lopes - not to mention a little bit of luck - to keep Bourges from equalizing before Mendy put the game away in the 77th minute. With Saturday's result, Les Gones advanced to the Round of 32 and got 2019 off to a winning start!

The main surprise in Bruno Genesio's Starting XI, Maxence Caqueret played his first professional match Saturday night in the Coupe de France. Positioned at the low point of a three-man midfield, the 18-year old became the 530th player in history to wear the OL jersey in an official match - just a few weeks after Yassin Fekir and Oumar Solet  made their pro debuts against Amiens in the Coupe de la Ligue.
