Already qualified for the Champions League knockout stages and in the top three of the Ligue 1 Conforama standings, OL successfully embarked on a new adventure Wednesday night by qualifying for the Coupe de la Ligue quarterfinals with a 3-2 win at Amiens. With Mathieu Gorgelin in goal and Tanguy Ndombele wearing the captain's armband, Les Gones went ahead in the 20th minute on Moussa Dembélé's penalty kick. Adenon, who caused the penalty on Bertrand Traoré shortly before, was sent off just six minutes later after seeing a second yellow and left the home side with 10 men on the pitch. The visitors took advantage of their numerical advantage moments before the break, as Traoré doubled the lead just as both teams were preparing to hit the locker rooms.

OL, who returned to a 4-3-3 formation after the injured Leo Debois was replaced by Jason Denayer at halftime, put the game out of reach on the hour mark. After being denied by Dreyer minutes earlier, Terrier finally got the best of the Licornes' keeper with a fantastic, curling shot to the far post from the edge of the box. Things were going smoothly until Denayer's attempted clearance on an Amiens corner kick ended up in the back of his own net. Lyon were noticeably relaxed, allowing Yassin Fekir to come on as a second-half sub and make his professional debut, just like starter Oumar Solet. Maybe they were too relaxed, as Timite put some late dramatics by further cutting into OL's lead with just seconds remaining. By that point, however, the ticket to the quarterfinals was already booked.

At 97 goals heading into Wednesday night's match, Lyon reached the century mark on the calendar year by putting three past Amiens en route to the Coupe de la Ligue quarterfinals. After Dembele and Traoré got their names on the scoreboard in the first half, Terrier scored OL's 100th goal of 2018 (45 at home, 55 away) with a curling shot to the far post. On the whole, Bertrand Traore (19), Memphis (18) and Nabil Fekir (14) were the top scorers in this period.
