Maxence Caqueret signs first professional contract with OL
A few hours after returning from the first team's Champions League adventure in Kiev, Maxence Caqueret signed his first professional contract with Olympique Lyonnais. Terms of the deal were finalized on Friday afternoon at the Groupama Stadium offices in the presence of President Jean-Michel Aulas and head coach Bruno Genesio. The 18-year-old midfielder put pen to paper on a two-year contract that runs through June 20, 2021.
Already capped eight times with the France U19 team, Caqueret has scored two goals and three assists in 10 National 2 games this season under the coaching tandem of Christian Bassila and Gueïda Fofana. He's also seen action with the Stéphane Roche-and-Gilles Rousset-coached UEFA Youth League squad, notching a goal and an assist in four games this term. The Vénissieux native has been a frequent presence in first team training, and the call-ups by Genesio should increase with this first professional contract for the up-and-coming footballer.
I'm proud to sign my first professional contract with OL. The club belongs to my heart, I came here in the U11 division. This signing is a culmination. I'm really proud to be here today with the president and my family.
I'm proud to sign a new Academy player who shows all the values of the club. Maxence embodies the future of this club. He must now earn a spot in the first team with Bruno Genesio, who will be counting on him.
Maxence represents the future of OL. He's a young boy who's filled with talent. He has an interesting physique and is a very good, quality passer.
