By the numbers: A November to remember for Memphis
The weather's getting colder in Lyon, but Memphis is doing the complete opposite. Scorching hot of late, the Dutchman has been one of OL's key men in recent matches, putting together an incredible month of November with several memorable performances.
Always a lightning rod for attention due to his unique personality, the number 11 has been delivering where it matters most - the pitch. After a poor start to the season, with just three goals and two assists in the first three months of the Ligue 1 Conforama campaign, Memphis bounced back to his usual level with a bang, putting on a show to remember in a 4-2 win at Guingamp in Match Day 13. In a brilliant display, he notched a pair of assists and scored a brace, including a stunning free kick from way out. With Houssem Aouar also standing out, Memphis stole the show that day and used it as a jumpstart for the following matches: an assist for Jason Denayer in the 1-0 derby victory over Saint-Etienne and two more assists, both for Maxwel Cornet, in last week's 2-2 draw with Manchester City in the Champions League.
Stats that speak for themselves. Memphis is still as lethal as ever. After 14 league games in 2017-2018, he had eight goals and three assists to his name. At the same point this current season, including Saturday's game at Lille (2-2), the Dutchman has adopted more of a playmaker role, with five goals and six assists so far. A big-time player for big-time moments, Memphis will continue to be key for OL as they continue in the tough last stretch of the year that include's their Champions League group stage finale in Ukraine (December 12).
