Anthony Lopes : « On représente toute une ville, tout un peuple »
Two days before Friday's derby against Saint-Etienne, Anthony Lopes was Julia Vial's guest on OL Access, OLTV's new daily show.

The derby

"I feel very good. We can't wait. We're anxiously awaiting this match. This is the first match that mark on the calendar at the beginning of the season. It's a special feeling... The pressure is extremely strong... We represent a whole city, a whole people. It's a source of pride to be able to do it. I could never wear the colors of ASSE."

The atmosphere

"It's always noisy. I'm in the front row. Insults, cheers... I hear everything. We must ignore all this when playing against Saint-Etienne. It's never easy to manage, but you have to balance things out. I have to do my job, it's the best way to respond to the opposing fans... The fans know what they have to do, the players too. They will answer now, that's for sure. They give a lot of their time to come and see us. We must pay them back. It's a privilege for us."

Your favorite memory

"Last season at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. We wrote our names in history with this match. It was incredible."

Nine matches left before year's end...

"We will depend on recovery and rest. We are used to playing lots of matches at OL. We are ready for this end-of-the-year run. There are some very nice matches coming after this derby, but we will have time to think about it after Friday night... Our start to the season hasn't been enough, but it hasn't been a disaster either. We want to do much better."

His future

"I'll need to see if the bosses want to keep me. I will defend my colors and my club to the end. My contract ends in 2020... As for Portugal, I had a long discussion with the coach, I know where I want to go. I'm a bit more focused on OL and my family.?

A calmer Antho?

"There were some doubts. I put my family, the club, in danger. It was a very tough time. I disappointed people and myself as well. After the Marseille match last season, I was on the national team and it was complicated. I had a lot of discussions with my entourage... I had a big fault, I was too intense. Now, I'm the one who calms others (smile).
