OL set sights on Champions League knockout stage
While the first leg of the Champions League group stage was overall successful for OL, it ended on a somewhat sour note. For their debut in Europe's biggest club competition, Bruno Genesio's pulled off an incredible shocker by beating Group F favorites Manchester City, 2-1, at the Etihad Stadium. A high-flying performance that couldn't be matched against a Shakhtar side that took a two-goal lead at an empty Groupama Stadium before Les Gones eked out a 2-2 draw. Another draw would follow in Germany against Hoffenheim, although the final 3-3 scoreline was far more disappointing given that Lyon conceded the equalizing goal in extra time.
