Lyon's captain faced the media ahead of Friday's showdown against Nice at Groupama Stadium.

Return to competition

It's always nice to be back on the pitch. More than a job, football is my passion. I'm very happy to be back with my teammates. I missed them. We all get along very well. My preseason was sped up. I worked hard, which is the most important thing. I'm ready. We'll see tomorrow if I start or not. I feel able to and I'll give my all... For me, the season really starts tomorrow.

Mariano's departure

It's a very good move for him. It's the club that belongs to his heart. We will miss him, he's a great scorer. There are still some great players at OL. I hope we can overcome this departure. He was a little behind on things sometimes because he didn't speak French. But I never felt a barrier with him.

Back with the France national team

It's an immense joy to be back with France. We have two good games to play. We'll try to enjoy it. We had an exceptional adventure. It's good to reunite two months later.

The World Cup

I would have liked to have played a little more. There's competition. I had the chance to participate in a few matches. You have to enjoy it ... I think about it every now and then. We must savor it. It's not every day that we're lucky enough to experience moments like this. Life goes on, my career as well. We're not stopping here.

His relationship with Memphis

We all know his qualities. He's a very good player. He can score, dribble, defend. We get along very well on the pitch and try to link up. We are going to start this season with the same intentions... The older we get, the more we mature. He's an intelligent player and he's improving. If we can all shine at the same time, it would be great. We will need him and other players as well.

Transfer market

I've already turned the page of my failed transfer. I don't think about it anymore. There are things we can't control. You have to move on. We haven't discussed a contract extension yet. The transfer window will end and later on we'll look ahead to the future.
