Izzy Christiansen: "The level of play at OL is higher than I imagined"
For their third day of training in Vichy, OL's women's team took part in two demanding sessions - including a morning routine consisting of explosive work and 1v1 drills. Intense, but not enough to faze newcomer Izzy Christiansen: "It's very hard, we work a lot, but we take pleasure in doing it. We still have a few days of work left before the season gets underway."
The afternoon session was open to the public, allowing hundreds of fans to watch the European Champions practice finishing in front of goal and run passing drills in reduced spaces. A perfect opportunity as well to observe the technical Christiansen at work.
A summer signing from Manchester City, the talented midfielder has reunited with fellow English international Lucy Bronze at OL: "I feel very good here, I'm impressed by the team's work methods. The level is even higher than I had imagined."
On target in recent friendly wins over Grenoble (8-1) and Freiburg (2-0), Izzy is slowly gaining ground in her new club: "It's a different way of playing football. To learn and to immerse myself in the project, It was a good thing to have been able to play and score. I'm very happy to be here, we have one last preparation match, and then we get the season started."
