Close-up: Tryouts in Vietnam 

Julien Sokol and Jacques Margain traveled to Ho Chi Minh City from June 13th to 19th, with both members of the OL Academy recruiting unit offering their expertise during tryouts of the best young players in the region. "The idea was to come lend a hand to Julien Negri… while observing players from the U11 to U15 levels,” explained Margain. Nearly a thousand children tried out over several days, with close to twenty being selected to join the workforce next season. The mission of the Lyon delegation was also to assist the local staff: “We also came to teach recruiting methods to the educators by working with them on the criteria to use and the methods to implement," said Sokol.


Visit: Lyon trio at Jeonbuk

Joël Fréchet, Alex Polizzi and Jean-Baptiste Grégoire visited the facilities of the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC Academy in June. The three OL representatives spent the week hosting numerous training sessions in South Korea, as well as a series a workshops for the club’s youngsters."It was really interesting," said Grégoire, U14 assistant coach. “They are very rigorous, very disciplined boys who have great respect for rules and hierarchy. Despite the language barrier, we were able to get our message across and the trip was very rewarding for all of us."

Standout performance: First success for Dakar Sacré-Cœur

The Senegalese club completed a successful 2017-2018 season, which marked its return to the country’s first division. Dakar Sacré-Cœur finished 8th in the local championship, thanks to a very successful second half of the season. Proof to support the work method set up by the former director of OL's training center, Alain Olio.
