The Dutch defender visited OLTV's "Culture Club" show to discuss his first season with the club, Lyon's hot streak and his competition with Rafael.

How he's adapting

« I feel very good here. The team already had a good dynamic when I arrived. Everything has happened quickly, it's going well. I’m delighted to be here. I am one of the young players. There is a good mix of ages and personalities in the group. It’s a lot more physical and faster here. It’s a strong championship, it’s different than the Netherlands. ».

The wins over PSG and Monaco

« The match against PSG left me with mixed feelings. I’m happy for the team, but it was a little frustrating for me personally. As in the first leg, I wanted to show what I could do even without Neymar on the pitch. I also understand the coach’s decision. Last night I had a good match and was very happy to give an assist to my former [Ajax] teammate
Bertrand Traoré. I needed it and it will give me confidence for the future. Bruno Genesio was satisfied with my performance. »

The team's strong form of late

« Every player dreams of winning trophies. I want to win them here. We must continue this path. I hope we have the wind in our sails for a long time. I’m confident. We have a very young and talented team. If we can keep all these players we have a great future ahead of us because we haven’t reached our best form yet. We’ve only been playing together for six months. »

Competition with Rafael

« We get along well. It's a professional agreement. It's good to have some competition with Rafael because it forces us to raise our level of play. I work hard in training to win my spot on the team. »
