In a match in which Olympique Lyonnais failed to take their chances in front of goal, Paris Saint-Germain ran out 2-0 winners and moved three points clear of L in the standings...

Week 9 of Ligue 1 threw a veritable summit clash between co-leaders as Lyon visited a sold out Parc des Princes to take on PSG.

Les Parisiens were the first to show their intentions as Gameiro stung the palms of Hugo Lloris (4'). Les Gones responded in kind as Camara struggled to deal with an excellent Michel Bastos cross (6'). PSG tried to use its pace up front and were caught offside on numerous occasions. Released by Max Gonalons, Alex Lacazette broke through the middle, only to be tackled in extremis (11'). Michel Bastos then received a yellow card for diving after an incident with Camara in the penalty box. After good lead up play, Pastore saw his shot turned against the post by Antho Réveillère and the ball rebounded into Hugo Lloris grateful arms (19'). Less than a minute later, the Lyon custodian was called upon again, this time t save from Menez. Lacazette then headed over at the other end after an excellent Cissokho cross. It was end to end stuff. Leading a three on two counterattack, Bafé Gomis decided to go it alone but failed to hit the target with his shot (23'). The match featured plenty of fouls but was great to watch. Max Gonalons headed just wide from a Bastos corner (33'). Lugano then tried his luck from nearly 40m out and Lloris tipped over (43'). Bastos had the last chance of the opening 45 minutes, but PSG 'keeper Sirigu made the save.

Rémi Garde's side had a great chance to open the scoring at the start of the second half when Bastos crossed for Gomis whose header flashed just the wrong side of the post with Sirigu completely beaten (49'). Les Olympiens then turned over possession in midfield and Pastore was released down the left. From a tight angle, he managed to open the scoring for Paris (64'). OL pushed for the equaliser and the home side sat back to hit on the counterattack. Gameiro had one such chance but was denied by an impeccable Hugo Lloris. Bastos again picked out Bafé Gomis who headed wide with the goal at his mercy (70'). This huge chance seemed to suggest it was going to be one of those nights. From another Bastos corner, Max Gonalons and then Gomis went within a whisker of latching onto the ball as it flew across the goal line. Les Lyonnais were then caught out as Jallet added a second at the end of the match (90'). The defeat see Les Gones let PSG head three points clear at the top of the standings and can take a few regrets back to Lyon...
