Ligue 1 - Week 21

Published on 27 January 2011 at 9:45 AM
There are no summit matches this week-end...a derby in the north for the leaders, apparently, straight forward away game for second placed Paris...and Marseille away to Monaco...

Who will take advantage of this Week 21, either at the top or the bottom of the table? On paper Lille are expected to win against their neighbours Lens and consolidate their position at the top of the rankings. But Lens have changed their coach and remain on two wins in a row. PSG travel, a priori, without risk to Avignon where only one of the top teams, OL, has not taken all three points. The ambition of a title in May can continue with a success. At Sochaux, third placed Rennes can expect a tough time against a side who have taken 21 of their 25 points at home.

For the rest, Caen do not have much choice at home. Dumas's men need points in their struggle to avoid relegation. But the visitors Auxerre are not safe, with only three points between them and the drop zone. OM cannot afford to lose ground on their opponents for the podium. The Phoenicians, however, will be faced with a monaco side in search of redemption and a way out of the relegation places.

There will still be an interesting ASSE - TFC to stay in the top table. There will be the Breton derby between Lorient and Brest, a Nancy - Montpellier and a Nice – Bordeaux, that Bordeaux would do well to win!

Monaco – OM
Bordeaux – Nice
Nancy -  Montpellier
LOSC – Lens
Lorient – Brest
Sochaux – Rennes
Arles-Avignon – PSG
Caen - AJA
