For the 2006/07 season the Challenge Offensive will put a new league table in place to encourage more goals: 0 points for a loss, 1 point for a draw, 2 points for a one-goal victory, 3 points for a victory by more than one goal. Last season, OL would have finished first...
Michel Hidalgo proposed five alternative measures to improve the attacking quality of the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. Proposal No.5 was retained: It concerns a new league table, to run parallel to the traditional league table and be worth €16.7m, with €2.5m for the champions. OL would have won last season with 71 points under the new league table, ahead of Lille 58 and Bordeaux 57. In this particular table, OL registered 36 points away from the Stade Gerland.
