Germany reach Quarter-Finals

Germany eased into the World Cup quarter-finals thanks to a 2-0 defeat of Sweden on Saturday. Thanks to an impressive opening fifteen minutes, in which Podolski scored twice, the hosts were never threatened by a powerless Sweden.
The World Cup hosts will now play the winner of Saturday evening’s encounter between Argentina and Mexico, in a quarter-final to be played in Berlin on Friday, June 30 at 21:00.

By scoring two goals in the opening quarter of an hour (4th and 12th minute), Jurgen’s Klinsmann’s men were immediately in control of their match against Sweden, who were reduced to ten men following a red card for Teddy Lucic (35th). The dismissal forced Lars Lagerbäck to reorganise his tactics and brought off Kim Källström in place of Petter Hansson.
During the World Cup, Kim Källström started the last three games for Sweden and played a total of 224 minutes.
