Portugal into last 16

After being held 0-0 at the break in their match against Iran, Portugal eventually qualified for the last 16 of the World Cup.
After dominating the second half from start to finish, with Iran merely offering the occassional counterattack, Luiz Felipe SCOLARI's side finally registered their second consecutive win.

A 25m Deco strike and a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty, after Figo had been brought down in the area proved to be the difference. Tiago - introduced in the 80th minute - and Co will now play either Argentina or the Netherlands in the second round... those two sides will play-off for top spot in Group C next Wednesday.

Portugal is now sitting atop Group D, ahead of Mexico, whom they play next Wednesday in Gelsenkirchen, at 16:00.
